We are excited to have Marie Burgeois back as Real Scientists curator this week! Marie is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Public Health in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. She holds an undergraduate degree in clinical chemistry and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Toxicology and Risk Assessment from the University of South Florida College of Public Health. She joined the faculty at the University of South Florida College of Public Health in 2010 and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to environmental, occupational, and public health. She has published and presented research on a variety of topics related to the effect of gender and other factors on the urinary expression of biomarkers of inflammation, renal failure, oxidative stress, and cardiac dysfunction. Current research activities also include the effect of PARP inhibition on chemical induced toxicity, lactational pesticide transfer and toxicity assessment of investigational chemotherapeutics.
