It’s the holiday season, a time where we like to invite back previous curators! This week we’re excited to hear back from Steve Maguire (@sciencenotscary), who is a neutrino chemist, which is a vanishingly small field. He’s working at SNOLAB in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, a leading underground particle physics research institute. He’s helping design the chemical cocktail that will be loaded into SNO+, the successor experiment to the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory which won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics. Steve will be talking in detail about his chemistry work on SNO+, neutrinos and other particles in rather less detail, as well as ancillary topics like life after grad school and how having your research program implode isn’t the end of the world.
If you want to read about he ended up in science and all that good stuff we usually ask our curators about, you can find it here.
Please re-welcome Steve to Real Scientists!
